1. What Roomie is

Roomie is an AI-powered room-finding service that helps tenants find rooms and compatible housemates in Oxford. We use artificial intelligence to conduct a conversational onboarding, build a profile of your preferences, and match you against available room listings.

Roomie is an information and matching service. We are not a letting agent, landlord, or party to any tenancy agreement.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Roomie. By using the service, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

3. Your account and information

When you use Roomie, you provide personal information through a conversation with our AI agent. You agree that:

• The information you provide is accurate and truthful
• You will not impersonate another person
• You will not provide false information to manipulate matching results
• You are the person who will be seeking accommodation (not acting on behalf of another without their knowledge)

4. How we use your information

We use your profile to match you against room listings and send you alerts. Full details are in our Privacy Policy. By using Roomie, you consent to receiving email alerts about matching rooms. You can opt out at any time by emailing hello@roomieapp.co.uk.

5. Intellectual property

Roomie and all associated technology, software, branding, and content — including but not limited to the conversational AI system, matching algorithm, housemate compatibility engine, and user interface — are the proprietary intellectual property of Roomie.

You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, or reverse engineer any part of the Roomie platform
• Scrape or systematically extract data from Roomie
• Use Roomie's technology to build a competing service
• Reproduce the Roomie conversation flow, matching logic, or onboarding design for commercial purposes

The Roomie name, logo, and brand identity are proprietary. Unauthorised use is prohibited.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Roomie to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
• Attempt to access other users' profiles or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Use automated tools to interact with Roomie
• Engage in any unlawful activity

7. Third-party listings

Room listings shown by Roomie are sourced from third-party platforms including SpareRoom. We do not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of any listing. You should conduct your own due diligence before viewing or applying for any property.

Roomie is not responsible for the conduct of landlords, letting agents, or other tenants.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Roomie is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Matches will result in a successful tenancy
• Listed rooms will be available when you contact a landlord
• Housemate compatibility scores will accurately predict real-world compatibility

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roomie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to unsuccessful room searches, tenancy disputes, or housemate conflicts.

10. Changes to the service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Roomie at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where possible.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Roomie after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The "last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
